A Niche for Voters
Welcome to Vote Niche.
Vote Niche is a new Geek Niche project. It’s a small corner of the web dedicated to promoting local politics in the global world. This site is open to anyone who is running for any elected office at the municipal, county, or parish level. It’s open to anyone who is running for a low-level elected office at the state level.
Vote Niche offers personal web presence to candidates. It also offers more. In the coming days we’ll be opening a forum in which people can present questions to the various candidates, respond to statements from candidates, and engage in active political debate.
As the roster of candidates grows, we’ll reserve space on this page for discussion of important issues, political observations, and reactions to national issues which may be of importance to local races.
If you work for a local candidate–or if you’re a local candidate yourself–we encourage you to become engaged in the kind of debate that a site like Vote Niche can provide. Whether you do it here or elsewhere, the most important factor is that you do it. Obviously, we’d prefer that you sign up with us, but more than that, we would prefer that you actively and publicly voice your opinions, perspectives, and platforms.
Democracy can only function when people become involved. Tyranny is birthed from apathy. Whether you’re a candidate, a citizen, or simply an interested party, stand up and give voice to your opinions. Defend them with rational thought and passionate speech.
Ideas which can’t withstand the light of day or the force of debate should not be given power.
